Situated in the Hills of St. James, Fort George is one of Trinidad's Historical Sites.
It was built by the British in 1804 as a defense post in Trinidad. However it was never actually used for military action. It is still home to the original cannons, a prision cell, artefacts and a beautiful Victorian Styled Signal House. It is THE place to go to enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the city and the Gulf of Paria. A wonderful spot for a family picnic, as you enjoy the impecable views with your meal.
